Tachikoma's

Kurogane

Chuunibyou
After hearing them in 2nd gig, I think I **** my pants with disappointment.

I mean I've heard ****** dubs before, but this one took the proverbial biscuit.

Ugh.

I don't think their voices are that different between the dub and the japanese.

I've wondered though in the 2nd gig dub do they keep the TK's song in the last episode in japanese?

The Japanese voices rock for the tanks, but I totally agree the dub version is aweful and really ruins any scene they appear in

In the original language it's only one woman doing all the voices of the tanks. In the dub there is about ten different people doing the voices.

Yeah, that seems really pointless as they are meant to be one mind spread across all the tanks as they are carbon copies of one another

I think they sound cute and funny in the original Japanese but they're a bit too shrill in the English dub. I'm a Tachikoma fanboy anyway though! Every home should have one.

It just sounded like someone TRYING to be cute and funny in the dub, yet failing miserably.

Exactly, they were trying to be cuter than the story needed

My 2nd GIG box set has been sitting on my shelf for weeks now and I still haven't watched it. I hope it's not as bad as you say, since the voice acting in Ghost in the Shell has never been a problem before and I hope it stays that way.

Dubs tend to annoy me in general, however I tolerated watching 2nd gig, right until the ear slashing dentist drill-like voices of the Tachikoma's reared their way on screen.

I instantly abandoned it.

You might aswell check it out though, because I hate a vast, VAST majority of dubs. :p

Ghost in the Shell is one of those series' that I first watched dubbed and thus I've grown used to hearing the Major's voice in English. If the voices are really screwed up I suppose I'll re-watch the entire collection in Japanese, plus it will make it more worth the money for the er, 'replay value' it gives me.

As much as I like the Japanese original, having one voice actress does have its limitations. Episode 15 of 2nd GIG is almost unwatchable... 20 minutes of philosophical discussion in high-pitched comic voices. Ick.
