Been interested in this for a while, same character designer as NGE. isn't it? Not sure how I'll watch it, we'll see what comes my way.

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, he also did the character designs for TGWLTT. As a matter of fact the sciptwriter and animation director are the same as those on TGWLTT too, so hopefully more of the same brilliance from this team.

Will watch the trailer when it isn't loading like I'm on an old 28k modem.

Looks crazy, in a good way. 'The Girl Who Lept Through Time' was great fun, and it looks like a similar spirit has been captured here. I'll await it with great anticipation.

Definitely something I'm going to be picking up when it's out. TGWLTT was a lovely surprise and this looks as though it will be just as charming.

This looks great! Is it likely to get a Western release at some point?

iisan, have you seen it before? TGWLTT is one of my favourite anime films. You're in for a treat if not!!

Saw this last week. It is probably just about as epic and awesome as the trailer made me think it would be, but I enjoyed the bits in the real world so much more than the bits in OZ. Maybe "childish" isn't the right word, but I've seen virtual worlds done in a much more convincing (arguably less "shallow") fashion, even in stuff like Wall-E where it's not a massively developed part of the film. Maybe I was just throw off by how not-very-far in the future it's set.

The actual heart of the story is wonderful, though. The main characters (the lead boy and girl, the Grandma and Wabisuke, the main girl's uncle) are all superb imo (it has to be said that I love math, which may affect my opinion of Kenji), and tremendously well voice acted for the most part. Kazuma I think is less well dealt with, with some pretty sudden changes of character that don't seem as well set up as the development of Kenji or Wabisuke.

Visually, the film is as stunning as you're all probably thinking it will be. Tremendous detail and animation.

There was one thing in particular that I remember thinking "why did that happen/that character do that" or something along those lines, but I can't remember what it actually was now. ^^; Apart from that the plot is pretty incidental, requiring you to just say "ok sure, I'll go with that" on a lot of occasions, and like I said the virtual world doesn't seem as fully fleshed out as it could be, but it's not a massive problem as the characters and the character interaction are the focus, and more than good enough to keep your attention for the duration.

There are some obvious themes relating to reliance on technology and (arguably?) modern terrorism, but it doesn't really do anything that a series of 24 wouldn't in that regard, for me. That's not to say that it handles it badly, particularly, but it's not saying anything new.

Definitely can't wait to see it again on Blu-ray, anyway (or hopefully it will get a cinema release over here, too).

Oh, the movie's out? I'm going to look for it now. I loved TGWLTT helluva lot and bought it full RRP, so I'm going to find this. I loved the trailer, so this makes me happy.

I can't wait for Cencoroll after this.

PS: Damn, theretical release. I have to wait ages for a fansub to appear on the net =/

Summer Wars looked really nice. But I beleive it's gonna be a long way untill we see this in english. Maybe, HK release has english subs?
One can only hope I guess
