Studio Ghibli's Gedo Senki awarded with Raspberries

With the film awards season upon us, Japan's "Raspberry" ceremony (awarding the worst movies of the year) have recognized Studio Ghibli's Gedo Senki (Tales from Earthsea) and it's director Goro Miyazaki with sarcastic awards.

I dare say that's a little extreme. It's hard to imagine that they were the worst in anime last year, even if by some accounts they simply weren't 'good'.

I suspect it has something to do with the directors name. The Japanese press hyped this one up so much that anything but perfection would be seen as failure. And I suppose this draws more attention to the Raspberries awards too... I wonder if Advent Children ever got one of these awards?

That is a little harsh, but as you say Paul, it's probably alot to do with hype, i can't imagine it possibly being the worse film of the year, even in Japan
