Studio Ghibli: Arrietty out on DVD & Blu-ray 21/11/2011

Forum member Ario has spotted the release date for Optimum release of the Studio Ghibli film, Arrietty. It's to be released on both DVD/Blu-ray for 21st of November 2011.

I know that feeling... until I came into some money, saw that they were about £5 each on Play.com, went nuts and bought them all...

I'll definitely get this, but I might get the US version too for the US dub if it's not included on this release, I wanna hear Amy Poehler and Will Arnett in there, COME ON.

I know that feeling... until I came into some money, saw that they were about £5 each on Play.com, went nuts and bought them all...

Hah! That was quick. Considering I didn't get a chance to see it at the cinemas in August, I really do appreciate this. I am waiting till the end of this month, and then I am preordering a slew of stuff coming this Winter. By th eway, this Winter is goign to be AWESOME for releases.

That show's hilarious, it may be an Office clone but it's a good one.

Since Tina Fey was in the Ponyo dub and Amy Poehler is in this one with Will Arnett, I can't help but think they're anime fans of sorts, 30 Rock certainly has a lot of references to how bizarre Japan can be.
 
Saw this at the cinema a few weeks ago and it's instantly become one of my favourite Ghiblis. Can't wait to see it again, I'm sure this will find it's way on to my Christmas list.

I also got the soundtrack last week which is well worth checking out too. Arriety's song has been stuck in my head for weeks!
 
Huh, I can't see "From the creators of Spirited Away" on the cover.

Which reminds me, it says that on the front and back of the Earthsea cover, and not only that, they stuck a sticker saying it on the cover as well. They really didn't have faith that it would sell well on it's own...
 
£2,999 for a DVD? I am suitably outraged!

I see the dreaded Irish ratings logo makes a reappearance for Arrietty. It's a shame that Optimum have to plaster their artwork with so many logos and other rubbish because their sleeve designs are so nice.
 
Interestingly, the release dates for both Arrietty and Whisper of the Heart have both disappeared from the three big online sites (Amazon, HMV and Play) - hope that does indicate a delay from the November 21st date!? :(
