Animation studio Gonzo have announced that the next anime to be subtitled and released onto the internet just hours after its Japanese television broadcast will be their new (fan-service friendly action series) Strike Witches. The first episode will be premiering in Japan on July 4th and is expected to appear subtitled (legally) and completely free on the video streaming website Crunchyroll.com soon after. This follows on from their still-airing horror action anime "Blassreiter" and their recently concluded first season of the fantasy action/comedy "The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk" (a second season called "The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk" was announced earlier this week).

Can't say I personally care for watching anime on services such as Youtube and Crunchyroll; but I'll take the stance that another source of revenue for Gonzo is a good thing.

I still think the next step they should take is simultaneous physical media distribution.

I loved the tower and I'm definitely buying that. I know, I'm a sucker for medieval fantasy in general, but I'm really looking forward to the second series =D
I do think that that's the way to go!!! After all, japanese are really into anime, because they have free sample on TV most of the time.
I think that the more people are able to sample, the better.

I would of liked the tower better if it didn't pull off such a ******** series extender at the end.

But the idea of (gasp) a world wide (minus japan cuz they have thier own thing) simmulatanous release idea is a lot better than what most companies put to the table (Hey, Toei, I want to buy Fist of the North Star, but you won't let me! Maybe I should just download the fansubs instead!!)
