<a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/news/1459/three-clips-of-mvms-latest-scifi-opus-ergo-proxy">Much like</a> their soon to be released first volume of Ergo Proxy, MVM have cut four clips from the first UK DVD volume of Berserk (out 3rd September 2007) and posted them online for your streaming pleasure. Berserk is a violent medieval-themed anime that trails the revenge-tinged highs and lows of an ambitious band of mercenaries who travel the land dominating wars and building fearsome reputations. These clips contain a lot of gory blood splatter, so, approach with caution.

Aside from the fairly poor dub voices, you get a good chunk of drama and more of an understanding of who Guts is as a character, more than just some bad ass with a big sword. Also, it has one of the best tracks from Susumu Hirasawa's soundtrack.

Everyone needs to buy Berserk, along with Mushishi is the best "mature" anime released this year (and we only had to wait a decade!)
 
I'm really excited about getting hold of Berserk, apart from all the obvious reasons... I'm really interested in Philosohpy, and when the artbox came for the series, the writing on the outside said:

"Is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the Hand of God hovering above? At least it is true that man has no control, even over his own will."

I'm hoping it has a lot of in depth philosophical elements to it. :)
No idea when I'll be able to watch it though :x

Has Japanese language option? [Who's ever heard of a European man named Gatsu? ;/]

Cons:
No Puck
Low-budget animation
Terrible ending placement

I'll consider buying it.
 
Ooo, finally Berserk is almost out here. Definitely one i'm picking up. I'd recommend it to anyone as well, so long as they can stand the gore factor.
 
It's a shame we aren't going to be seeing a box set release for ages as a result of an old show being milked for all it's worth in rip-off Britain. Would've ordered it straight away, have been thinking about importing one of the R1 box sets for ages.

Anime should all released in a box set straight away, just like normal TV shows.
