Starwing

I dug out my SNES today and decided to give my old fav game Starwing a go. I was blown away by the playability, I know this game graphics are so
out of date but its the most fun I've had on a videogame for years.
I'm no retro game nut by any means but I think Starwing rocks and is simply
the bomb!!!

Has anyone else played this /still play this?

I was hooked on the original for quite a while (although I remember being totally useless at it), although I preferred the N64's "Lylat Wars" more, was the first game I played multiplayer where you killed each other!

StarWing was excellent, though Lylat Wars greatly improved the control system, giving greater fluidity of movement. A Lylat Wars quality remake of StarWing for the DS would be very nice indeed.

Ah yes i remember this game, i thought it was great still used to play it a couple of years back..haven't now, can't remember if it was ours or not still :? ..but from what i remember it was the first game on the nintendo consoles to be tested in 3-D graphics with the adaptor part of the SNES, not totally sure though..

I disagree, in part. StarFox Assault, while better in graphics, sound, & presentation, lacks the 'feel' of Lylat Wars, & the replay value. I adore them both though. <3

Seems appropraite to resurrect this thread seeing as Starfox Command (think that's what its called) has now been released on the Nintendo DS.

Has anyone played the new DS game and if so what do they think? I heard it still doesn't have the vintage "on-rails" gameplay but is meant to be one of the best entries into the franchise so far.

Starwing (aka Starfox) on the SNES is one of my all-time favourite single-player video games, even now. The music is also very memorable.

I also have a strong opinion on Lylat Wars which I personally thought was an underrated entry. :)

I loved Starway on my SNES I still play the game using Emulators on my work PC.

Something about simply flying around blasting really makes a game worth playing

I've had American Starfox Command for ages, good game, though sort of lacks replay value.

Am I correct in the assumption that it still falls well short of the original Starfox / Starwing game in terms of quality?
