Sony Movies Channel Weekly schedule

UPDATE 16/10/2013 : I've changed the title since it looks like new dates will be added to this thread, hope that helps!

SCSource : http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...lm-screenings-on-sony-movie-channel-in-august

Hey everybody! :D I understand this is really late, but since no one (that I know of) has posted this I thought it was worth a share.

I find this interesting as I remember that Sony were interested in launching Animax here in the UK, could that mean now they're interested having an anime block instead ? Sony did say they were planning to show more anime titles in the future (check the source) which could mean more anime films but then again, this could also mean different anime series could air in that slot. They have a commercial advertising this with the label 'Late Night Anime' for the slot on 'Mondays from 1am' so it doesn't rule out this idea completely (check the image linked, sorry for the poor quality).

What does everyone think of this news (if you can still call it that :p ) ?

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

I mentioned this in one of the threads (anime viewed) but I am looking forward to what the channel will offer. Hopefully if it turns out to be successful and gain some viewers after the disaster of Summer Wars's show on Sky Movies, then maybe the UK media can support the anime industry more. Film 4 is doing a good job showing Ghibli movies from time to time, helping new viewers with freeview and BBC tends to show Spirited Away like once every few years.

Once Bleach is done, I can suspect the list of titles that will possibly be shown on the late channel be the following;
- Final Fantasy: Advent Children
- Final Fantasy: Spirits Within
- First Squad
- Legend of the Millennium Dragon
- Paprika
- Tekkonkinkreet

Reason? They're licensed by Sony Pictures. But since Bleach is owned by Viz Media Europe, it's possible that other films could be aired like Akira, Jin-Roh, Ghost in the Shell or anime that mainstream fans may know of such as The Animatrix.

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

I emailed a list of movie suggestions for Film 4, perhaps I should forward it to SMC as well.

Spent my childhood recording late night anime on to VHS tapes, so I'd love to see this take off.

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

Well, according to the Sony Movie channel site, they plan to air Berserk.

"Every Monday catch our pick of Animax movies, including the Bleach and Berserk Anime series"

Also recently found on the PlayStation store, they have a collection of Anime episodes that are free to watch on the "Crackle" section. Not sure how long it has been there for, many of you may already know about it but just figured I'd throw it out there. Series like Rorouni Kenshin, Oreimo, Astro Boy and a couple of others to view.

Last time they were shown, Paprika and Tekkonkinkreet were on Film4.

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

My brother recorded Paprika on Film4 on his Tevo box when it was on recently (he missed the showing of Tekkonkinkreet though).

SMC might show them sometime in the future but it might be a case of waiting for Film4's fights to show them to expire. If you do a search of Film4's site it does list them currently though,

If you do a similar search on SMC's site it finds no matches.

the good old days where we watched late night anime on sci-fi is now back on sony movies, :)

That's why I still, even to this day prefer to watch anime late on a night. I still can't watch it through the day unless its a Ghibli film. It must be the atmosphere, lol

My Sky Guide confirms that it's Berserk: Egg of the King next week

So far it seems that Sony has Kaze/Viz Europe titles, I guess Children Who Chase Lost Voices, PlanZet and Roujin Z will be shown as well.

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

If that's the case, we could also see

Trigun: Badlands Rumble
Street Fighter 2: The Movie

Which would be nice!

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

Sky Movie Channel (323) will be showing Berserk: The Battle for Doldrey on the 9th September :D

Makes sense since Film 1 and Film 2 fit together back to back while Film 3 feels like another story.

Re: Sony Movies showing Bleach films this August

This is true, but with the news about SLA being reluctant to show Movie 3 I thought perhaps they may rethink Berserk all together and show something else instead.
