Dandy Guy, in Space
like the topic says im insterested in buying this anime but have found out the re-release limited edition boxset contains the eps in the wrong order and not on the original, and vise versa so could someone explain this to me

For both the American and Region 2 release, the broadcast order is only available in the Limited Edition box sets.

The region 2 release is pretty much identical to the American release.

The broadcast disks come with vols. 2, 3 and 4 of the LE's and are sub only. So if you want the broadcast order and don't mind watching it subbed, then you need to by the original LE's and not the new releases that only comes with the standard disks.

What exactly is the big fuss about this whole broadcast order? Is it really all that hard to just buy the regular DVD's and watch the episodes in the broadcast order or is there something stopping that?

Either way they really knew how to pry money out of peoples hands with this one.

One word: fanboys.

well actually, the non-broadcast order has the series end half way through with the 2nd half as filler eps
And that's it? Hardly justification for lashing out the extra cash is it. Plus if you do it my way you can watch it in broadcast order with a dub!

Actually, They aren't filler episodes. They are canon material that take place at during random parts of the novels.

The broadcast order is actually the best way to view it, As the last episode of it has a conclusion which wraps up the series pretty damn nicely. I don't think the sub-only broadcast order discs are the reason to spend the extra cash on the LE. Its mainly the whole, Its Limited Edition and comes with lots of fiddly stuff I'll never use. Saying this, I'm getting the LE's.

I bought the US LE editions and have only watched the non-broadcast order, to be honest I haven't even thought about watching in broadcast order as the non-broadcast was fine. ( With the exception of Ep 00, putting that at the start confused things slightly. )

I bought the LEs of 2, 3 and 4 and skipped volume 1 entirely (this meant I had all the episodes in broadcast order and a bunch of random free stuff, I just don't have the dub for the episodes on volume 1 - but I don't care). I'd never seen the show before so could have happily watched it the other way around but I managed to get one LE cheaply and then just got the rest mindlessly.

Sy's way works fine and if you're on a budget *and* want it dubbed it is by far the most sensible way to have your cake and eat it too at the cost of a few moments disc swapping occasionally if you're a purist. If you want the extra bonus stuff, get the LEs. People who get the LEs aren't automatically cooler than those who don't and it's a good show either way :)

Might pick up the local version of vol1 one day so I don't have a freakish gap in my collection and it sounds as though the UK one is getting good treatment.

The LE has dub but only for the non-broadcast order episodes.

2. do the menu's have the episode number on
Dunno

3. what is vol 1 exactly is it sub only
You only get subs with the extra disc that comes with vol. 2-4 of the LE sets. The extra disks contains episodes of the show but in broadcast order.

4.how many eps are there of this anime
13 or 12 I believe

5.is it true there is a bonus dvd in the le which has the broadcast order but only in sub
Yes thats true, which also answers question 3.

There is only 5 questions there o_O

There are 14 episodes, in fact.

As far as what is the deal with broadcast order, part of that comes with the next episode previews, which are quite funny in their own way with Kyon reciting events in TV order with Haruhi talking of episodes in chronological order. The TV previews are available as extras on the disc but presonally I am a little bit lazy to want to switch out discs and keep flitting between scenes. I can see that that would kind of ruin the flow for me.

I would link you to the page that explains exactly what the releases contain, including exact orderings and explanations... But the website is down.

www.asosbrigade.com - I doubt the information will ever be on there again.
