So AUKN Veterans who here remembers......

While I never have "experienced" MangaMinx I'll say it's good to know some anime-fans get up the entertainment chain.
Hope to be of value to others someday too. ^_^ (I have a 'few' ideas and a secret project running/booting in the background.)

Judging one of MangaMinx' last posts on AUKN I'm questioning whether she's still into manga/anime, but next to the style of her thumbs/character there are no clear clues towards a yes or a no.
In all honesty, I would not be surprised if it were "no". Sadly enough...

It'd help the (UK/US) anime industry a lot if a huge YouTuber would step up his/her "game" and tell his/her subscribers to support anime legally.
I mean, in the past certain huge YouTubers have achieved great things just by using their "legion"/"fanbase"/"army"/"derps"/... .
Whether you get one person to legally support anime, or thousand. Every person we "gain" is good for this industry's "game" and lessen the "pain".

I know that almost every YouTuber I follow has either been an anime-fan at some point or has a certain set of anime he/she likes.
But none of them ever persuaded legally supporting anime as far as I'm aware. Something that'd have at least a small positive influence on the industry.

However, at the time of posting I can't confirm or deny I'd subscribe to TheRPGMinx.
I only watched a few videos to get a small idea of what she exactly does and what her voice is like.

Judging by her Amazon wishlist, it seems she is still into anime. I thought it was only porn stars who got away with having "amazon wishlists"? Maybe I'm just stingy, but the concept of these wishlists seems insane to me. In fact I'm almost offended by it. It seems so self indulgent and arrogant.

Yeah I agree. Some girl who is popular for her FB page who for god knows what reason I still have a friend on FB would post her amazon wishlist loads. She then kept linking a site where you could donate money to her for gifts for her baby when it's eventually born. That. Is. Mental. I don't know which I dislike more, her having stones to do that or the dimwits who will "give to the cause".

I was never here when this user was about but I'll probably check her Youtube out later when I'm home (work doesn't allow Youtube, tis blocked).

I'm taking the subject personally there, Vashdaman & -Danielle-.

>_< So if I want to put myself in a good light owning an Amazon wishlist I need to "admit" being a porn star?! That's definitely a new insult to add to the list.
The sex industry would vanish if I would be in a porno. Nobody would want to have sex ever again. I am the solution to overpopulation.

Now, enough of talking bad about myself. But I'm honestly not depressed enough to want to become buddies with HIV, AIDS, herpes and other STDs.

I only share my Amazon wishlists to people who actually ask me to give them the link to it.
And so far, after all these many years, only Mangaranga has ever asked me for it. Nobody else. Just Mangaranga.

The more important reason I have the wishlists for is so I have everything in "one" place (it's actually split over a few categorized sublists).
It's rather tedious to have to look up every single title you want every single day again for that odd chance you can compile a viable order, and it's one of those things that really annoys me about sites like Zavvi. Really, even though there's an anime section I don't need to see titles I already own and neither do I want to see titles I don't want. It annoys me.

Of course, if I want to make an order with Amazon I have to ask a nice fellow to help me out. That won't change anytime soon.
I just wish sites like UP1 and Zavvi would implement a wishlist so checking up prices doesn't waste as much of my precious time as now.

Don't get me wrong, both you and -Danielle-... I don't want to offend you two, but I feel like I should speak up for myself.
I have Amazon wishlists and I'm not a porn star, neither am I someone that screams "gift me stuff" or "donate" on social media.

Never thought of looking there. XD Awesome.

They aren't 'annoyed' at people who simply have Amazon Wishlists, but those who give out the links to their followers/fans and either assume/hint/ask for things to be bought for them.

tut tut, sharing your wishlist with Mangaranger, what a hoochie! :p

Of course that is totally fine Agent! I just meant that I thought it was only porn stars who shared their wishlists to random people via twitter and the like, so their lonely virtual patrons will buy them the stuff. It's that practice that I find slightly conceited. Not sure why people would donate such gifts to a random Youtube gamer, I dunno, maybe her vids are powerfully moving. Part of me wonders whether it's because it's a female gamer, but that's probably sexist of me. Do male youtube gamers also do this practice?

The other fun thing about the internet. Misunderstandings happen quite quickly. (Me and social skills...)

Well, I misunderstood your initial post then. My apologies.

You can look at it from multiple perspectives... Not saying I approve of the practice though. I don't condone it.

I believe that those girls could've done many other (legal!) things to get money...
It shows a kind of laziness actually, but a kind of stupidity as well! Think about it, if any of the women get a child...
It's inevitable the kid (especially when it's a boy) will someday run into the database of pictures and videos about his/her mom 12 to 25 years ago doing porn.

However, that aside... I wouldn't say they are all abusing the men who do stupid things when aroused though.
In certain cases there's probably an overlord abusing both the porn star and the audience I described above.

Yes, I can confirm this is done by more YouTubers, including male.

To make it easier I categorize almost all kinds of gifts for another cause next to myself as a donation.. So that includes gifting from an Amazon wishlist.

It's rather hard to explain what I approve when it comes to YouTubers... How and what YouTubers earn is rather hard to explain and learn about.
You could compare a few YouTubers on socialblade (edit the url with the YouTubers you want to compare).
The truth you need to remember is nobody really knows what any YouTuber earns except the YouTuber himself/herself and the network they are with.
Some networks will give the YouTuber only 50% of the revenue they created with the channel and others get 80%. (And you earn more money with MineCraft than anything else really)
Those estimates only really tell you how much they earn at the very least (as in lowest amount of money they "could" be getting from their partnership).

Now... What do their earnings have to do with these donations. Simple! A full-time YouTuber also needs to cope outside YouTube and has to compete with other YouTubers. (like companies do)
Their channel needs to improve at all times, and many (not all) try to do stuff for their subscribers as well. All costs money. (And all consumes time.)

So there are channels I approve the existence of the "donate"/"gift"/"shop"-button of and there are channels I don't approve it of. (because eg. they "demand" donations without good reason)
And be honest here, at least most YouTubers don't sell their bodies... That's at least something you should have respect for. Even if you don't approve of donations...

However, all those things aside... There are only two things I spent money on that could be considered donations of mine: the Patema Inverted KickStarter (£45) & the Peter and the Desus EP (£4 IIRC).
And both those causes added something to my collection... So it could be considered just a purchase of mine, just like buying anime through the usual means.

Hey, if I could get people to give me free stuff for being appealing and existing I'd do it too. But then essentially my ideal existence is being Michael Caine's character from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels so I'm not about to claim any moral high ground.

Hey, if I could get people to give me free stuff for being appealing and existing I'd do it too

Oh no doubt, so would I. But because I can't I'm doing the only thing to make me feel better: being a h8er and claiming moral superiority.

Yeah, i've known she's had that channel for a while, speak to her on the very very odd occasion too. She had a channel just called mangaminx for ages too which focused entirely on Horror games, but she moved away from it.

@Agent: She's still into anime/manga, has tweeted about a few things too. I believe she has watched Mirai Nikki in recent months too. But the channel, her engagement, etc obviously would take priority at the moment. Though i'm not sure how machinima are when dealing with the content ID issues. I know there was concerns when that first appeared.

Anyways, yeah, i knew she was there, been following her since she started her youtube stuff and still do. Glad to see things working out for her so well. Good sense of motivation in a way too. Now i just need to get myself into gear and get working.

Agent, I hope GolGotha made you realise how I intended what I said and I hope you're not offended :)

It solely is just those expecting stuff from people they don't even know. It's just rude and up your a*se IMO. Even I have a wishlist sometimes but it's so I won't forget what I want whilst I save up for it. SAVE being the word here. People expecting things for nothing, it's just minging.

In terms of those saying if they could, they'd be the same as her, it's hella tempting and I think I'd have a crisis of conscience here myself as free things are ACE. I've loved bagging free things be it a chocolate bar on market street or something a bit more substantial haha. But yeah, I believe you work for what you want, you don't go around expecting it from others when you give nothing in return. I think I'd be too inclined to return the favour if someone ever got me anything. Even now I find it hard to receive gifts off of my BF and will get him stuff of equal value or as close as I can afford when he does that. I'm slowly learning the accept the odd treat though. It's how I was raised I guess. I'm extremely self sufficient, hate being in debt (bar my mortgage which is a fair enough "debt" lol). Plus, Karma, you take and never give, well it's going to get you isn't it :p
