Snow and Ink Volume 1 Review

I read Volume 1 of this yesterday and can only agree that it's hard to get invested in the lead relationship when its all so rushed at the beginning! I appreciate the author tried to show us time passing by them talking about the seasons etc, but we really needed to spend more time in that set-up phase before barrelling onwards. Even the romance aside, I think moving from A to B so fast meant we didn't get to see Neneo mellow out properly, his personality shifts quite dramatically early on (presumably also because the author realised making him that hot-headed just wasn't going to work) and it just feels inconsistent rather than a product of him developing.

I will say I liked it a lot more once they introduced Halvard, as flawed as he is. I'll probably continue on a little further because of that dynamic interesting me, but I'm honestly wondering how this has ran for 6+ volumes in Japan so far - it doesn't feel like the storyline surrounding Neneo has that much to give.
