The English-language manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment, perhaps most well known recently for hit series' like A Certain Scientific Railgun and Monster Musume, will be expanding their market from just the publication of manga. They won't be taking similar steps like Yen Press and establishing a light novel imprint though; the target of Seven Seas' new expansion is the world of tabletop games!
Seven Seas Games will start releasing trading card games and board games with an anime aesthetic later this year. Their first work, which is based on an established property, will be announced tomorrow. Games released by Seven Seas will contain both a mix of licensed and original products.
Seven Seas President Jason DeAngelis said this about the new expansion: “Both manga and board games are cited as two areas of tremendous growth in the publishing industry. We’ve decided to combine both, appealing to manga and anime fans as well as gamers in a whole new way.”
Maybe in the future we'll see the likes of A Certain Scientific Trading Card Game and Kokoro Connect Four?
