ADV Films have licensed the long running (132 episodes and still running) odd-ball comedy Sergeant Frog (Keroro Gunso) for DVD release in North America.

Sergeant Frog - which is about "a frog-like alien sent from his home planet on a mission to conquer Earth" - features a number of Japanese pop culture and anime parodies and has proven to be a run-away success in Japan; with this in mind, ADV's English localisation of the show may have to skew the foreign humour towards more "familiar" Western themes.

I knew this a while ago, when going on their site [ADV.com] after a few second it pops up, it's about time ADV got a good license, seems the license note was in their favour.

It's quite a big coup for ADV, this series is pretty big in Japan, and its so hilarious as well from the few episodes I've seen. It looks like they're going for another Excel Saga like show.

Personaly, this is one of those shows that will
A) Get a US release on TV (Toonami) be a rip-roaring success but gets blocked as far as UK TV antics are concered
B) As above but gets nuked by Jetix or Toonami UK
C) Success in US but never come over in the UK.

There's always D though
Which is B) with the following text added on "But gets 13 ep boxsets released over here"
