North American anime distributor Sentai Filmworks has just announced their release plans for the month of August - a release slate which sees one more new license acquisition in the midst of previously discussed announcements.
That new arrival to their release slate is Samurai Girls (aka Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls in Japan), an adaptation of an on-going series of light novels animated by ARMS, and featuring an alternate universe Japan that has remained under the control of the Shogunate, isolated from the rest of the world. The series focuses upon an academy that trains samurai warriors, which is where we meet the show's titular bunch of characters in a riot of action and fan service.
The complete series of Samurai Girls will be released in North America on August 23rd with both subtitles and an English dub, and on both DVD and Blu-Ray.
August's other US releases consist of the second half of Maid Sama, which gets its subtitle-only DVD release on August 2nd, the previously announced Kobato has its first half released in subtitle-only DVD form on August 9th, and Night Raid 1931 arrives on both DVD and Blu-Ray (complete with an English dub) on August 16th. Finally, Neo Angelique Abyss is released in its entirety on subtitle-only DVD on August 30th.
