Scrapped Princess

I *loved* this series. At first I was skeptical and thought it might be quite generic but it has a very special charm to it despite all of the cliche (and not so cliche) fantasy elements. My favourite characters were Shannon and Raquel. They both seemed very human and easy to relate to.

The uplifting theme song still makes me smile each time it comes up in iTunes.

I feel bad that I avoided Scrapped Princess until the cheaper set was out as I'd have happily bought it sooner if I'd know I'd have enjoyed it so much.

Its Original run was in 2003 which is about the same time anime started to become somewhat more mainstream in the West. Iregard this series as a sleeper hit, starts off pretty normal but then..........well ill not say just go watch it.

I've seen this series and it's awesome. The first few chapters it's just your regular anime, then it evolves into something really epic.
the casull brothers are really something else, but I actually liked most characters in there.

This. A great show that exceeded my expectations in every way. Well, almost every way. I recall having some issues with the ending.

Unless the DVDs are the same as Madman released, I wouldn't want to pay the £13.89 per DVD I'd have to pay for a Beez release - the R1 quality is awful, the R1 DVDs having the worst example of shimmering I've seen, plus dot crawl issues.

It's a great series, though. It's a must watch for fans of medieval fantasy series.

A embarrassing little story

For the hell of it, i thought i would write down a little story i had back in Year 10 in secondary school

Back when i was in year 10, I used to watch alot of anime on my laptop. it was mostly was One piece and Naruto. But sometimes i would look at AMVs (anime music videos) on Youtube to see if there was a anime that caught my mind, and one day i saw a anime that caught my interest, and it was called Scrapped Princess. It was a AMV and the song playing was Your not alone by ATB (One of my most favourite songs of all time).

At the end of the AMV, A older looking woman was softly holding a younger womans face and she started to cry as if she was happy to see her. Then she hugged her. I thought that Scrapped princess was....well....about 2 woman who were in love with each other. This DEFINATELY caught my interest so i went on different websites to see if i could watch the whole series (im not perverted as much as i was back then XD)

I watched 3 episodes of it and i LOVED IT TO BITS!!!!!! Infact i liked it so much that i was worried that the videos would get deleated or removed. This worried me so much that i was ill on the way to school so i went back home. i wanted to finish the series so bad that i cried because i was so worried that i woudent be able to finish the series. Yes, i was that sad!

So i eventually finished the series. The series made me cry, the series made me laugh, In total i really enjoyed it. Only to find out it wasnt about lesbians :( but i was a anime about family love!

Some of you people must be thinking: This boy is lonely or He needs a Girl freind badly. and to be honest i agree, I was a perverted little bastard. But i just wanted to write this down for the hell of it

If it doesnt make sense to you, dont be surprised. Im a lil drunk :p

Thanks for reading

Bah, lots of us are ronery and need girlfriends, I'm just thinking "You should probably buy the DVDs."

Some of the best posts around here seem to be made when people are drunk, we should all endeavour to drink and post more.

WRT to the series at hand, Scrapped Princess is a great surprise to everyone, even if they don't get the series because of any possible lesbian fantasies ;)

It starts as a great fantasy story and quickly turns into scifi. I've the manga of it at Ayacon and once I read it, we could compare our opinions.

ps. merged topics, to keep posts together.

I liked scrapped princess... here is a copy of my review...

Scrapped Princess

Plot: 7/10
I liked the general idea for the plot. Take one medieval world, add a prophecy of doom and portents about a princess who is the “poison that will destroy the worldâ€

Good review

Like many BONES anime’s characters are cleanly drawn and well animated, backgrounds are simple but competent and the direction as a whole is fairly good with no jarring 3D or computer animated elements. If you liked Wolf’s rain or Fullmetal alchemist, you’ll like this.

Talking about Bones, we will have a chance to interview Masahiro Ando & Masahiko Minami - if you have questions for them post at:
