Right, this may be trivial, but I was thinking about how MVM have put together the Samurai Champloo thinpak boxset that comes out soon.
As the thinpak is being packaged in a slightly strange manner - with a space inside the box for the bandana - I'm going down the path of more contact with fans is always the best thing, and if someone from MVM had done some polls on the forums to see what form of boxset people would prefer, it might help... I mean, they're printing 3000 boxsets apparently, so they might as well make something that everyone would prefer.

So yeah, what would you prefer, the non-conventional way of putting together a boxset, with space inside the thinpak for the bandana; or the artbox holding the cases with no gaps around the outside, and the bandana packed in the plastic wrapper.

Who knows, maybe MVM might read this and take into account what people think (of course I'm assuming most people would want the bandana packed on the outside option).

Having extra space for the bandana seems pretty silly to me. I mean a lot of people are going to take it out so the cases are going to be loose inside the artbox.

Soon? I already got mine weeks ago and having the bandana in the box does annoy me but I've just left it in the box, I'm not gonna use the bandana and I don't want my DVDs moving about inside the extra space.

It would make sense to put the banadana outside the box as putting it inside the box would leave extra space when it's removed (putting things in the box only really works if you get the box with say a single volume in there so it utilises the extra space).

The only real problem with putting stuff outside the box is the people in shops who rip them off and steal them (which they do at every cahnce they get the scoundrels!). At least if it's inside the box you know it won't go missing.

Maybe if there was a voucher inside where you could then get MVM to send it to you (like what was done with the T-shirts for the FLCL box), but then, that would be an extra expense for either us/them with the postage...

The bandana originally came with the volume 1 + box (R1) from Geneon, all those years ago. I don't know how R1 things are packaged if they come in a boxset, but the only other series I know to have an extra packed with it, is the Last Exile boxset (not the thinpak), which had the volume 1 + box figures included - somehow. If anyone owns that, they could tell us how it was packed, which might give us an idea how MVM could have packed it.
But anyway, big kudos to MVM for getting these special R1 things, they've come a massive way.

Well, all of the special edition Haruhi releases come with boxes containing the extra stuff. Viz's Naruto boxes contain the headbands inside the box with space to contain said headband so it is not entirely unheard of in R1 land...

That's true, but I was focussing on boxsets, for example - if there was to be a Haruhi boxset at some point in the future, how would it be packaged...
On the Naruto boxset note, I got the impression (from pictures, and people who own the boxes) that the extra's, like the headbands, come in a separate package next to the box containing the discs, and I really do hope that is the case, because I was planning on getting the non-limited versions of Naruto (and Inu Yasha) at some point, because the extra's don't seem worthy of the extra price, they just don't seem right. Anyway, that's off topic, but if anyone is willing to provide some pictures of the limited versions and the regular versions, that would be extremely helpful.

In fact, something the UK industry lacks is pictures of the releases we're getting, with all the new boxsets coming out, it'd be nice to know what they're all like. I think I've mentioned that before, but oh well.
EDIT: Not that the ones I talked about are UK items...
