Sakura Diaries and BBFC news

According to Eye on Anime, ADV UK has plans to release the romantic (12-episode) series Sakura Diaries as a 2-disc "DVD collection" this summer. Also worth noting is that this release will be the edited for TV version of Sakura Diaries (and hence, it will contain the English dubbed TV broadcast language track too). The DVD cover art will be a UK exclusive.

Talking of BBFC cuts, Animazing's extreme hentai La Blue Girl Returns will require 8 minutes of cuts or alterations to pass with an 18 certificate. The BBFC cited the following reasons: "Scenes of sexual assaults which eroticised and/or endorsed the activity, and images encouraging an interest in underage sex." The BBFC have also let slip that the disc contains a Animazing trailer for the as yet unannounced UK release of hentai OAV Demon Warrior Koji.

Can't really see the point then!! I suppose it's OK if you don't know what's missing, a bit like the early releases of Urotsukidoji but if they cut out as much, it won't be worth bothering with!!

I love the comments on La Blue Girl Returns! Surely if it's rated for 18 years & over, that isn't encouraging anything!! (Although having said that, I was pretty disgusted to read a post somewhere from a 13 year old who happily stated the first anime they watched at age 11, was Urotsukidoji  Was that a case of parents thinking all anime is like Pokemon!!). A full 8 minutes cut out as well! Same thing as Sakura Diaries, just get the uncut version  I think at age 38 I can just about stomach them both in their uncut state!!

That's why Adventure Kid was renamed to Adventure Kid, allegedly - a lot of parents saw a cartoon and bought it for their kids, apparently ignoring the big red "18" certificate on the cover.

Just like to point out that (in the case of Sakura Diares) its not a case of cut/uncut, but TV/Video version.

I really dont know why animazing are bothering to try and bring Hentai to the UK tbh.

Is anyone suprised it was cut? :p , the BBFC have an allergic reaction to hentai. Personally its beyond me why the tentacle ridden rubbish that Animazing want to release sells as apparently well as it does. I always notice their "Of Darkness" Boxset trilogys being snapped up in HMV.

Thanks for that information. To be honest, all this Sakura Diaries buisness had me a little confused so it's good to get a little clarification. I'd never even heard of it until a few days ago. I've edited the post to reflect that.

MangaMinx has basically hit the nail on the head. Animazing are cashing in on the novelty factor of "cartoon porn" being sold in high-street shops like HMV. I think I read somewhere else that they could have avoided the edits and accepted an R18 rating, but this limits them to being sold in "sex shops" only.

I just hope the money they make off these low budget hentai releases will be pumped into releasing more of the under-valued, vintage anime like Dominion Tank Police. We can only hope.

The novelty factor certainly helps the sales I suppose , its clear they dont really care less about the edits and want to milk the titles as much as they can.

Another thing isI think perhaps one of the reasons ( other than costs ) that they are specifically releasing tentacle hentai titles is to make money off Urotsukidoji's infamy with their own releases.

Or maybe they're just having a run on everything by Toshio Maeda as he also wrote Demon Warrior Koji and of course Urotsukidoji!!

Just had to bump this thread for an L.A Blue Girl Returns update :p
Episodes 3 and 4 have just been put up to the BBFC

La Blue Girl Returns Episodes 3 & 4 (Dubbed, Rated 18 - Cut by 24 min 25 seconds).

24 min 25 seconds.

Is there anything left there for people to actually buy? I mean I'm no fan of tentacle hentai here , but surely people buy these things for the content ( and they do sell well here ) . With such a huge cut ... I cant imagine anything is left that can fit together.
