Well I am a big RPG fan.It is pretty much the only genre i really play anymore. I am up to my eye balls in rpgs at the moment. Got Dragon's Dogma and the witcher 2 on the 360. Then you have the atelier games and tales of graces on the PS3. What about you guys? Also what about older series like wild arms and suikoden what do you guys think of them? I am a big fan of star ocean and the tales series myself.Oh nearly forgot about kingdoms of almuar as well. Game is really good but I haven't heard anyone talking about it.

I love RPG's.

I still go back to Wild Arms, Azure Dreams, Grandia, Suikoden 5, Breath of Fire 3, etc.... all the time. The fact the graphics are now outdated doesn't bother me at all and they just don't make RPG's like that any more.

Actually no game beats Azure Dreams for me. That game was just too good.

I do like the newer RPG's too. Well, most of them. I don't like the recent FF games or Witcher.

I used to play them every night after whatever time I had to be home for, mainly Japanese ones like final fantasy games (from 6 to 13 still need to finish this), grandia 3 I think was the one I had, breath of fire 1-4 and dragon quarter, skies of arcadia legends was one of my favourites. What else a bunch of ones for the gameboy and gameboy advance dokapon was one I remember, legend of dragoon, star ocean till the end of time, you guys have just reminded me of wild arms I had the third one I think I loved that game so much due to the cowboy setting. I’ve played a couple of the tales games (I still need to finish vesperia) and I’ve played a bunch of western rpg’s like skyrim, oblivion, fallout 3 and vegas. That’s all I can remember at the moment, for all that I love rpg’s they take up so much time and I feel if you don’t continuously play they are hard to get back into. However I saw in another thread here recently that you can get ff 9 for the psp so I have my brother looking for his psp in his house so I can get download it for bus rides to uni after the summer.

I used to love them and sink hours upon hours into them. Now I don't really ever feel I have the time to even start them (Doesn't stop me buying them though...).

Last one I really had a proper go at was Resonance of Fate, because it really tried to stand out and be a bit different I think.

My soft spot has to be the 'shining' series, they really got me into RPGs (I know they're mostly technically SRPGs but whatever?). I loved Shining Force 2 like nothing else, and I still sit here with fingers crossed that we will ever get a full translation of Shinig Force 3 or Shining Force Feather. I didn't really love the PS2 incarnations so much though.

Only thing that has come close to reliving Shining Force 2 for me has been Valkyria Chronicles. Awesome game. I wanted the Agarest series to fill this spot but it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

Would anyone recommend the Atelier or Ar Tonelico series? I've been eyeing them up but feel they'd be just another set of complicated dungeon crawlers like Disgaea that I'd love but never really have the time to properly appreciate.

Oh Demons/Dark Souls were cool too. Just rambling now...

Prior to the PS1 I mostly played western RPGs such as Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder.

When I got my 1st console, a PS1, I started getting JRPGs. PS1 JRPGs I got (that I can remember) include FF VII , FF VIII, FF IX, Grandia, Wild Arms, Suikoden 1 & 2, Alundra, Breath of Fire III & IV, Vandal Hearts and Star Ocean plus several of the older FFs such as Final Fantasy Anthology.

Every console I have purchased since has seen me buy JRPGs - from Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast to the likes of Persona 3 & 4 on the PS2.

Even now on the PS3 I have a backlog of games which includes various RPGs (mostly JRPGs at that).

Big fan of the atelier series. The good thing about the series for me is the lack of grinding that is needed to complete them compared to other jrpgs. I am a bit of westerb and japanese rpg fan. Used to be just jrpgs but bioware turned me onto western rpgs on the first x box. Just rogue galaxy the other day brillant game. Cant for ni no kumi next year
