Can anyone answer me a question?

I have watched the Macross Saga and currently watching the Masters and noticed that Macross II is available to rent on PSN.

Can anyone tell me where it fits into the story? Is is after the whole robotech boxset?
 
robotech is just a retelling of macross and Macross 2 is set not long after Macross so i don't see why not

though the story is still different to Robotechs
 
Yeah, I don't think you could really consider Macross II part of the Robotech canon. If memory serves me, the only follow up to the Robotech continuity was the Shadow Chronicles film.
 
What others has said is true but there is some additional information, Macross II has actually been scrubbed out of the Macross timeline itself in japan (i.e. It's now Macross's first Alternate Timeline story) So basically its all on its lonesome not really fitting with Robotech's version of Macross or even belonging with the proper Super Dimensional Fortress Macross's storyline

That means I don't have to worry about finishing Robotech before starting on Macross II :D
