Concluding her look at the Martian Successor Nadesico anime, Jo Sarsam has reviewed Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince Of Darkness; the theatrical movie follow-up to the popular mecha-comedy series (out now in the UK from ADV).<ul class="menu2">"With a tighter focus, Prince of Darkness would have made quite a serviceable feature; unfortunately, the decision to cram in extensive character cameos at the expense of story development only hurts the movie and may even alienate casual viewers. For fans of the series, however, the chance to catch up on their favourite characters will be worth the price of admission."</ul><a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/viewreview.php?showreview=186">Read the full review.</a>

i loved the movie but i have to agree that they made it end really quick the way they ended does open up for maybe a second movie or a second tv series

It's weird i've watched this movie, but none of the series. I did enjoy what i understood of it, reminds me that i should get around to actually watching the series

im a pretty big fan of the series and i must say the movie did just feel like a whos doing what now episode, altho it did keep me glued to the screen to see who would make the next appearance :)

I thought it was a quite a good, enjoyable movie, even though its gone a bit more serious, it doesn't take itself too seriously at times, and the viewer shouldn't either. Its a weird balance.

I'd give the movie an 8/10, and thats without comparing it to the series but treating it as a standalone movie.

Yes indeed, Akito rocks in that scene, and generally in the film. He's no more Shinji-like, instead he seems distant, different, darker and cooler. More please.

I hope they make a Series 2 with a Akito in this manner. It would be a whole different ball game to the first.

yeah i mean if you have read the small story they have in the nadesico movie book it explains what happened in the three years between the movie and the tv series.
spoiler bit
when atiko and yurika were captured yurika was put into the transporter program and atiko was going to be one of hokushin's army because of him being experianced with piloting. but the lab that they were experimenting with atiko was stormed upon by an assault team lead by goat hori. Atiko was saved but his mind had been tampered with, so he was not the same atiko. Atiko was trained by tskuomi in jovain style fighting skills and attacks, the experiments had also tampered with his senses, leaving him partially blind, the skills he learned helped him greatly. Akatsuki was interested in the martian successor's and joined negal to their cause as an act so they wouldnt surpect that atiko and their secret service was breaking into their labs and stealing information for themselves (thats why in the movie when the martian successors storm the general assembly they call akatsuki a traitor). on one of their secret missions they rescued lapis and she became atiko's partner. from the information they stole negal were able to make their own secret force of aestivalis. their most powerful aestivalis was given to atiko and he went on his own set of revenge against the shadows of the martian successors.

from what i read from the movie book that would of made a good series out of it
