The third volume makes for an explosive and satisfying end to the series with only minor issues concerning the pacing and explanations in the final moments. It manages to include action, emotion and good old-fashioned detective work effectively while bringing the seemingly separate plot threads together in a resolution that delivers on many levels.

Before anyone pulls us up - this review was based on the third and final volume from the box-set. Indeed, it's a shame Manga decided to pull the individual volume releases without even finishing the show first.

As far as Heat Guy J goes, what I saw (something like the first 6 or 7 episodes) of the show was quite fun but strikingly generic and "flat".

I've seen up to episode 18 at this point, and really enjoyed it until it hit a lull for a few episodes, then went back up. The story has changed quite a bit (the structure of events in Judo etc.) and I'm predicting a strong finish. Soundtrack's one of the most memorable too, and it also has appealing characters.

As a whole, i didn't like it, and i only bought it as the series set was on offer. It was distinctly 'monster of the week' save a very very weak overarching plot with the vampire which i didn't feel even remotely carried it. The character's weren't especially likable either.

Thumbs down i'm afraid.
