They've pretty much always used double layer discs.At least when Rev went South a couple of years ago with Funi, I filled out my Beck, Suzuka, and School Rumble backlogs with the single volume discs, 4 eps to a disc. They were all dual layer.Now that they are re-releasing stuff on four discs, it certainly saves room on packaging, but sometimes extra features don't make it across (although not often)The biggest problem was that it took them a while to sort out the authoring. School Rumble Season 2 was one of the first series to come out on four discs, and it has some obvious aliasing issues. They sorted it out pretty quick though. My Ouran Host Club sets look fine.
