The New York Ripper (1982)A weary copper, a bored housewife and an aspiring sportswoman tangle with a knife-wielding killer preying on young women in Lucio Fulci's giallo thriller that does pretty much what it says on the tin. The film has a grotty appeal in the sheer, unbridled sleaziness of its setting and it's stylishly shot, but other than that, I think you'd need a strong stomach for this one - the sustained, graphic brutality of the murders is a lot to deal with, even by today's standards. Fans of the genre will be entertained, but for anyone put off by the subject matter, this isn't bringing anything new to the table and could easily be skipped.
