Quick Feedback

I'd like some quick feedback on something I'm working on, it's gaming related so I figure this is the best category to post it in. I'm just curious to know if a website like Destructoid for example were to review old video games alongside new releases, would you be interested in reading a review for a game which is considered old. The more people who can reply with their answer the better, so please do.

I don't read that particular site but I certainly like reading old reviews as well as new ones. Sometimes you miss a good game and a review might get you itching to search bargain bins for some forgotten gems. Plus it's more interesting. As great as GTA4 apparently was there was an absolute onslaught of reviews on its release and it did feel a little monotonous.

Arguably reviews of older games might become more and more relevant these days as patching/DLC mean the game on release and the game a few years later may be very different kettles of fish...:)

Statistically, reviews on the large gaming websites get insane amounts of hits when they are published within a week of the game's launch. After that, the hits drop very rapidly. However there are benefits to reading an old review as you say, such as the review in question reminding you to pick that game up. It can also be useful when you have a game of interest in your wishlist but the review may be quite negative thus making you scratch it off in favour of something more promising.

I quite like old reviews, i regulary check out the retro section of IGN for that reason, especially when they review lesser known games, like those for the 32X and the Atari Jaguar. Though i also do like the retro articles they post as well, like the one for the canned Sonic X-treme game.

So yeah i would like a mix of old and new reviews

It depends how you define old; If you did retro games, then I would probably not be interested. If you did under rated games that are new-ish and are on 360/ps3, then yes, I'd read it. There are plenty of games that are awesome out there but are hardly noticed, therefore, sell for cheap. Although I wouldn't read it, I could imagine oldschool RPG's would be popular.

Yes, to clarify things I don't mean really retro games from the 8-bit days. I'm talking about old but not completely forgotten like Lost Odyssey on the 360, or Okami on the PS2. Worst case scenario it will be a game from the previous generation of consoles such as PS2 or Gamecube. Best case scenario it will be a game that is still quite new but not released only a week ago like Command & Conquer Red Alert 3.
