I don't actually care for Dragonball Z, but I seem to remember Manga stating on twitter multiple times that it's 16:9. (Edit: A one star reviewer on Amazon complains of this so it is indeed 16:9.)Dan said:Hi All,
Please can someone definitely confirm that the Manga UK release of DBZ is widescreen (16:9)? Not pillar boxed 4:3 like Kai.
I'm currently trying to cancel my order for Kai S2&3 on ebay after putting on S1 and seeing that its ratio is 4:3, I can't stand it.
Thanks

It is meant to be 4:3 though, but it's cropped to 16:9, meaning that you are missing some of the image from the top and bottom of the screen.
If Kai being it's native 4:3 really bothers you that much, set your picture mode to zoom/wide zoom or something if you can. It's no different to how you are watching DBZ now.

Shiroi Hane said:Well, DBZ (original) is 4:3. The FUNimation "Orange Box" release was cropped while remastering to be 16:9, and that is the version on Manga's discs. The much lauded Japanese "Dragon Box" remaster was 4:3, and FUNimation did also later release this version also IIRC.
I'm depressed that I know this much about DBZ.
