EDIT: Please note that this event has been postponed until 3 May 2007. Please check the NanimeW website or subscribe to the NanimeW announcements list to be kept informed of further details (I won't spam this forum with details of future nights).

After a break of over a year, the monthly NanimeW nights return, with a new venue and an expanded programme.

The first of the new nights will take place on Thursday 12 April 2007, upstairs in the café bar at the Greenroom on Whitworth Street, Manchester (beneath Oxford Road train station).

The nights showcase the best in Japanese pop cinema, animation and music. This month's main feature will be the anime film Mind Game (other screenings to be confirmed). Resident DJ Happosai and guest DJ Shirokuma will also be playing an eclectic mix of Japanese music.

The night will run from 8:00pm until midnight and is free-of-charge to attend. Over 18s only.

All screenings will be with original Japanese dialogue and English subtitles. The programme may be subject to change without notice.

More details are available on the NanimeW website:

Cheers! It's not going to be a huge event (the venue's not that big), but I'm hoping to get a good bunch of regulars coming to it, as I did when I ran a similar thing for three years previously.

Well done on showing Mind Game. It's the kind of anime that's obscure even within otaku circles (like Kogepan!) and Masaaki Yuasa is a brilliant director that needs his work seen over here. Seen Kemonozume? 'Tis more of the same- awesome! :)

It's criminal that Mind Game hasn't had any exposure outside of certain circles...I've been hoping that the Leeds International Film Festival (usually a good place to see obscure Japanese films) would show it for the last couple of years, but they haven't (Paprika more than made up for it last year, though).

I intend to show a lot of things that have passed many anime fans by (both obscure, and forgotten classics).

I've got a few eps of Kemonozume, but haven't got around to watching them yet...will try and rectify that ASAP!
