It's comically-huge swords aloft this time, as we discuss notable gal-game enthusiast (and occasional author) Kentarou Miura's magnum opus, Berserk.

00.00 - Preamble (Forces - Susumu Hirasawa)

03.20 - Berserk: Part 1 - Caska Appreciation Station

With the first of the new film adaptations on the not so distant horizon, we take time to analyse the series so far in both manga and anime incarnations. This discussion will contain significant spoilers for the tv adaptation. Break at 41.50 (Murder - Susumu Hirasawa).

1.31.20 - Epilogue (Ball - Susumu Hirasawa & Tell Me Why - PENPALS)

Massive thanks once more to daichi383 for making us sound in some way listenable.

iTunes link available shortly.

Originally I was going to end this post by just shouting "TEAM CASKA, ASSEMBLE!", but as one of our members is not currently present, it spoils the effect ever so slightly...

I really enjoyed this episode. I don't really know much about this series and now its on my watch list.

I think each p0odcast is getting better. Then hosts have good chemistry with each other and all contribute to the discussion. Sometimes When I listen to Podcasts you get one person dominating and the other host(s) relegated to just being 'yes men' which gets boring very quickly.

I found the discussion of the contradictory way Casca is portrayed very interesting. I think this is something a lot on Anime struggles with, Women can be strong...but not to strong.

What happens to her reminds me of 'Women in refrigerators' syndrome from American comics. See TVtropes

Ah, thank you :) I do hope we haven't completely spoiled the plot for you though.

Hmm, I can certainly see where you're coming from. I don't think Caska is quite an ideal fit for the trope, but there could well be an element of that involved. I think it's kind of a difficult one to call while the manga is still ongoing.
