Podcast: Guest Invites!

Having kicked this one around for a while, we'd like to open up a semi-regular slot for guest contributors on the podcast. We'll be doing this on a subject by subject basis, so if the upcoming topic is something that you feel strongly about and you'd like to discuss it, post here and make yourself known.

Ideally, we're looking for people who have a good sense of humour, can debate on their feet, don't mind hearing themselves speak and are passionate about their subject. In the interests of keeping things technically manageable and easily listenable, we'll have to limit it to one person per show, but if anyone's dying to be on, we'll take that into consideration and try to get them on a future episode.

The next recording will be on The Vision of Escaflowne (mainly the tv series, but we'll cover as much of the franchise as possible), so if it's a title you feel strongly about and your memories are reasonably fresh, we'd love to hear from you.

The central question will be "Can Escaflowne still offer anything new to today's anime fan?"

We would particularly like to get someone who wasn't too keen on it as our own feelings are generally positive, but we're happy to consider any viewpoint.

Unfortunately, this is rather short notice as the recording is scheduled for Thursday 29th at 1900. We'd expect the recording to take roughly an hour and a half.

Again, apologies for the short notice - hopefully future topics will be posted further in advance to give everyone a fair crack at contributing.

Thanks :)

Well, I think you know who to call if you even want someone to voice a strong opinion on the subject of the anime industries hatred of females and exploitation of males, since I always seem to be briging it up here....

Errm it works the other way round too.
yaoi and shtacon are both exploiting males for a female audience and yaoi in particular has grown considerably recently.

I know men are being exploited that's why I said "hatred of women and exploitation of males". However I think even with the misogynistic "panty shot"and "big breast school girl" fan service anime among other types, its actually the males who are being exploited, the males who watch copious amounts of it and potentially end up obsessing over thaty stuff.

While I'm sure Yaoi/ Boylove or whatever you wanna call it has been growing in recent times, I have relatively little of it in the popular anime I have seen compared to the other way around. Also I suspect that women in general are less likely to get caught up in all that stuff, even though evidently some women do like porn as well.

Just to say that we chose ConanThe3rd to join us for the recording on Escaflowne. When I say 'chose', I mean since he's the only one that volunteered. Lol. But we're glad to have you anyway. We'll mention here when other slots open up. Thanks for the responses!

Also, Vash, we've noted your interest, should a relevant topic come up.

Sounds like a rejection letter from an employer :p

"While your CV was promising, we feel there are others more suited to our requirements at this time."

Great! I'll be here chipper as always until I receive your call, and at which point I will prepare to unleash a hurricane of passionate, righteous anger(is there any better kind?) the likes of which you'll not not have seen in your worst nightmares...

:p Nah I'm only joshing, I'm not really as much of an extremist as I probably come across on here lol. I love anime, and do do things with my time other then lament over the consumeristic (is that a word?) and misogynistic nature of certain shows.... honest
