i just got a ps3 yesterday... and ive been checking out the psn and i feel like im missing something...

is the uk one just crap? it has no movies, barely any games... i dunno.

ive been looking online and it seems like the US one and it has movies and shows like family guy and more games.

like street fighter 2 hd was released and we dont have it. im lost? is there any way of getting the us stuff???
 
I'm gonna move this to the game section, since thats the best place for this ;p

On topic: I dont believe we can actually get the US stuff, much like how the Wii shop and 360's marketplace works, they only have stuff which is available in the UK. I mean, if we could that'd be great, i'd download the original Fire Emblem on the Wii as soon as i could, but thats only available in japan =/, not the same as the US stuff i know, but its based along the same lines.
 
I've got rock band I (EU) and II (US) and when I bring up the store from it, it loads the US or the EU store depending on which one I have on the ps3.

As Rick mentioned, PS3 games aren't regionalized so far, the discs at least.
The songs though :( I've bought the import key, but I can't import from the EU Rock band 1 to the US Rock band 2. I've borrowed a friends US RB1 and it worked fine. It's the same for the songs.

The pack of the game says nothing in RB 2 which should be US, but my UK discs have all region 2 in it.
 
I have a JP PS3 and despite the UK discs saying they're for our region they work fine. The only dodgy area is downloaded content (general rule is that if it's a full PS3 game, it will be fine, but if it's an add-on to a game you have from a different region you're out of luck). For example, on my JP PS3 I can use the UK version of say, Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection from PSN fine. But if I have the UK version of Soul Calibur IV, I can't use US downloadable content if I want to.

I'm pretty sure you can get GU for ps3. Not sure you would be able to go through it without one of those game translation guide though, which in my opinion spoils much of the fun in it.

ah so there's a ps3 japanese release, shame cause there's a ps 2 american one

Sorry mate, I misundertood things a bit. ps2 R1 games can only be played if you chipped your ps2. I'm not sure ps2 games play on a ps3 from a different region, but I'm sure there is no chip to unblock the ps3 yet.

The movie's on the US store will also be updated onto the EU store in the future. i don't have an exact date for this but i've been assured that it'll be happening.

The stores themselves have some differences...we have LBP costume packs that they (the US) don't. and vice versa they have games and add on's we can't download. the only way i can see getting round that is to have both a Uk and US profile on your PS3, therefore having the best of both worlds.

there's anime you can download on the US store but not yet on the UK store and im not sure if that will change soon as the fanbase for anime in the UK (as you know) is a minority compared to the majority that don't watch it.

I have a japanese account on my PS3 just for good measures.....you can play some of the games...unless you can read japanese then i'd advise against playing strategy games. and downloading psp games from the jap store...when you go to put them on your psp it will then code your psp to only play R1 downloaded games :/
and if your thinking "it'll only code the mem stick" then you'd be wrong because i thought that too and it doesn't work.

Right as far as i know you'll need an american bank card to do that.....but Visa debit cards should be fine too.

Entirely depends on your luck. My UK credit card work on the US store but not the Japanese one, so I have to buy PSN credit for the latter.

I believe you can get game cards for PSN credit in the US as well now finally. There will probably be some game stores/ebay sellers who don't mind shipping them over to you in the worst case. That's how I got my US iTunes account set up...
