Paranoia Agent

Kurogane

Chuunibyou
Just started the series, watched the first 2 eps so far, and it seems pretty good :)

Not exactly the most mature anime, but it was good enough to sustain my interest

Anybody else seen this series?
What did you think of it?

Don't worry, it gets pretty mature as the series progresses. Social commentary, murder-mystery, pitch-black humour and all-out weirdness. I loved it. :)

I just watched the third episode and it was a striking change from the first two, really matured like you said :p

Looks like I'll definitly finish the series now 8)

I'm watching it right now, sort of, I've watched seven episodes, I'll finish it off sometime, probably later tonight if I'm in the mood, it's quite enjoyable, I also like the dub, so I won't bother with the sub at all. Plus Susumu Hirasawa ftw. <3

Fantastic series, another win from Satoshi Kon who has not let me down yet. I thought the dub was ok too but at points it just sounded too needlessly goofy so it's good that i'm only rewatching it with the dub.

Just finished the eighth episode, and yes I'm watching the dub.

Usually can't stand them but it hasn't annoyed me in the slightest

Stunning series. One of my faves and in my opinion the best anime series of last year.Marginally better than stand alone complex gigs 1 and 2.I think this will be looked back on as a real classic.
Cant praise this series enough.

Yep, I finished it the day I began watching it

I didn't care too much for the episode about the writing/making of the anime :/

but overall it was definitly a great anime :D

Mmm, that whole disk was filler in a sense - didn't really expand upon the plot. I still thought they were great episodes though.

Weird, that was my favourite. That and the one with the detectives wife.
My favourite one was probably the aptly named "Final Episode", just to see everything come together.

That was one of the best episodes.
Great insight into the industry.
And that poor monkey man is so pitiful.

I enjoyed some of Paranoia Agent, but ultimately I found it disappointing, some parts were funny and others were interesting, but the majority lacked a clear focus, a sense of commitment or any genuine surprise. The series can be roughly compartmentalised into the comedic episodes, which were too frequent, and the story episodes, which weren't as suspenseful or well paced as I would have hoped.

I'm just offering my opinion though, so I hope nobody takes any offence, but if they would like to argue otherwise then I'd like to hear their views.

I think that's being a bit to critical since the show was billed more as black comedy than a thriller/horror. I enjoyed the social commentary interweaved into the series and like a all of Kons work he knows to take you to the edge and not push you over it.
