Despite all the fanfare deservedly going to Jetix UK's announcement of Naruto, they will also be airing Japanese-French co-production <a href="http://www.obanstarracers.co.uk">Oban Star Racers</a>, which recently premiered on French TV. Yeah it kinda looks like it's ganna suck but I guess I will watch it first to see what it is like

hmmm saw the trailer, and while it looks ok

the idea is obviously ripped for star wars

the chars look kinda .hackish

and the ships interfaces are a blatent rip of zoids
 
It looks like something I would take a strong dislike to and yes it looks like a complete rip off of the pod race idea from Star Wars. It looks way too generic for me.

I thought Yoko Kanno was doing the OST.
 
I like the character designs, they seem well suited to the fantastical style and while yeah, the story does seem influenced by the Star Wars pod racing thing, I'm just getting the impression that this will be good. It doesn't look like an IGPX.
 
Well, if they're going to rip off the first Star Wars movie they might as well rip off the bits that are actually good (to quote Spaced, "Jar Jar Binks makes the ewoks look like ****ing Shaft!")

TBH, it doesn't look like the show will be completely about the racing, although trailers are often misleading. It does look pretty cool though and worth at least a quick look when it's released.
