In the early hours of this morning, Nintendo Co. Ltd. issued a statement announcing that the company's President and CEO, Satoru Iwata, passed away on Saturday at the age of 55. The cause of death was a bile duct growth.
As much as my personal interest in what Nintendo was doing waxed and waned over the last fifteen years, Satoru Iwata always remained a great man in my eyes. RIP.
Genuinely saddened by this and more upset than I'd like to admit.
He was a genuinely nice guy and a gamer at heart. To think that the last we heard from him as fans was an apology for the poor E3 showing and the backlash from gamers. I hope he knew how much he and his company meant to so many.
