New season of Ikki Tousen (Battle Vixens) on the way

Despite mostly negative reactions to the first season, a brand new Ikkitousen (Battle Vixens) TV Series has been announced as being in production and is set to air in Japan during 2007.

Known for its less than subtle mix of extreme fan service and violent action, MVM released the first season of Ikkitousen in the UK during 2006.

It was mainly the patchwork and quick ending to the series that got my blood boilled. And the Dub cast sounded "Bleck!"

Well, I'll collect it anyways, but I hope it's improved on its 1st series.
And there better be Ukitsu, or I'm gonna have a great time deciding on my weapon of choice... Mwahahaha!

If they were going to start on a fighting anime I wish they finally finished off Tengo Tenge though rather than starting a new sseries of Ikki.

Is it going to be a remake (a la Negima?!) or are they going to produce new material?
I dont think so... In the manga, they did a quick change in direction. It at least made sence in the manga, but the ending was just rushed in the anime.
So it'll be a continuation, but focusing on other characters mostly (I think.)
I mean, they'll have Hakufu and Ryomou in, as I saw screenshots of it on the net. So, in my mind, it has to be a continuation.

i never really saw all of the series, though i will at some point, i never found it that bad, it was ok, so i may have a look at the next series. i would think that it is a continuation though.

Very tactfully put! Personally, I found it to be the biggest waste of studio time and money I've ever had the misfortune to watch but some people must have found something to enjoy in it if it's coming back on air. If we're lucky they'll follow the manga a bit more closely this time.

I saw in Waterstones today a new series of the manga will the anime be based on this?
Are you referring to Battle Club? If so, that is a completely different series (though it is by the same mangaka)
No, it should be original material

To be honest I liked the manga, but I watched ten episodes of the anime and it was pretty cheap. I'm surprised something like this gets a second season and something like Gunslinger Girl will sit there crying for attention.

Well, I have my thorny whip ready, so if they screw this up, I won't be a happy camper...
Although, I'll be intrested in seeing how they introduce the other characters, and how they sort out the ending of the 1st series into its continuation... Even if it was pretty rushed/open...

I don't know about ukitu...

For your sake I hope ukitu is in it.. I didn't even see her in the intro.. LOL

And judging by the manga upto vol 12 she hasn't shown her face yet except for like 1 or 2 scenes and i think 1 of them was a flash back... Well I am a Kanu fan but if they mess her up like they did in first series I am just going to stick with the manga..

The dialog in the anime is a joke compared to the american mana.. It may have bad english and bad slang but they girls are flirty as hell and all the guys talk about is sex.. Very bad boyish. Great Dialog.. too many sex jokes..

Probably A Very Newbie Question... Please Go Easy On Me!

Ok... I know there isn't a whole lot of apparent support for Ikki Tousen here, but I'm hoping that the experts here (you!) can help with a few of my questions.

First of all: who/what is "Anime Freundin"? I've seen German dubbed episodes of Ikki Tousen that had this (supposed distribution company?) name in the opening credits. Literally I believe it means "Anime Friend" or "Anime Girlfriend". The German distribution company is listed as "Anime-Virtual" on Anime News Network here

Secondly, is an unedited (original version) cut of this series available to the public on DVD? As a casual anime fan, I'm always frustated/intrigued by how many different versions of a given series there are once it it edited for different countries and presentation mediums. I'm the kind of person who wants my art the way the artist intended it... whether that's music, movies, books, television, or anime.

I've noticed that the versions distributed in the US by Anime Selects (three episodes are currently available on Comcast OnDemand) contain scenes that have been blurred compared to those of the "Anime Freundin" German cut I saw.

On the other hand, the German version is different in its own right. Some scenes that are blurred in the Anime Selects version are in tact. Other scenes blurred in the Anime Selects versions are completely cut. Strangely, some scenes were altered to remove certain body parts!

This all makes me wonder how much more is missing from the Anime Selects version as compared to the original Media Factory distribution.

Thanks in advance for whatever light you can shed on this!

The original Ikki Tousen series is available over here completely uncut, as 99% of all anime is these days. Cuts these days in the UK are few and far between and generally only happen to (the very few) hentai titles that get released over here, which is hardly any loss in my own opinion. The second series isn't available anywhere as yet and won't be available over here for at least a year or two. So far as the cuts you mention, it sounds very much like a TV edit of the series, which isn't so surprising since, even in the US this frequently happens. Again most DVDs released in the US are unedited with a few exceptions.

I couldn't help you with your German question since I don't speak a word of German but I might suggest that it could be the studio responsible for the German dub.

Thanks!

Thanks, Gawyn, for your quick and informative response!

In the meantime I found some episodes on YouTube. These were original AT-X broadcasts with edits apparently made by the video capturer (messages were written in the "back from commercial break" sequences.) What's of note is that even as broadcast in Japan, the content is edited. I suppose that the animations are produced with multiple target mediums in mind from the get go (i.e. television and DVD) and these different versions are then further edited by foreign television broadcasters and licensees.

Thanks again!
