The Boss
This year's 10th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that an anime extra for the Mahō Sensei Negima! ~Mō Hitotsu no Sekai~ original anime DVD (OAD) series has been green-lit for this Fall. The new anime will adapt the Ariadone magical girl arc from Ken Akamatsu's original Negima! Magister Negi Magi manga. According to the magazine, the extra is being produced to thank the fans for making the OAD series a hit.

More Negima is never bad - well, more of the Negima OADs is never bad. The two full series weren't spectacular to put it nicely.

The (so far) two OADs are much better, and the Ariadone Magical Girl story will be fun animated since it features several brand new characters as well as one of the fan favourites.

why is everyone so surprised?

they annouced ages ago there would be 4 in total XD

just goes to show the current story arc will be the last

what they need to do is a complete series again actually following the manga, rather than making up it's own ending

Yeah, but this brings the episodes up to 5. The dates of release are (were) Sep 09, Dec 09, May 10, Aug 10, and now Autumn 10.

The new bonus-episode features a story arc that looks like it was going to be skipped over in the new OVAs.

I doubt it. I have no idea what the manga does after the bits released in English so far, but I believe they're still telling the Magical World arc (which started several volumes back in English, and is the primary subject of the OADs here)

It could end, but it has the scope to continue going for a while yet.

season 1 because It made it's own ending that I thought was great
asuna die's and negi trys to sell his soul at one point
The first Negima! anime attempt did have an acceptable ending, since it is in itself both a conclusion and a "life goes on" style ending. It isn't the ending I dislike about it. It's the rest of the anime.

It starts off well with the Dark Evangeline arc, but then goes astray and by the time we get to the Kyoto arc it's fallen into a mess, and one of the most exciting storylines in the manga gets completely destroyed to be much lesser than it is.

And season 2 was good if you were open to the fact that it contained little fighting and more joke's abit like hayate the combat butler

If Negima!? (it is NOT season two. It's a retelling, a remake, a reset, a complete restart. Only Funimation really call it season two, and that's only for marketting reasons) was a standalone series with zero connection to Negima it would be good, but it takes the Negima basis and turns it into a shallow cross between Pani Poni Dash and Moon Phase, with most characters losing any personality and just becoming a running gag. I like Pani Poni Dash. I like Moon Phase. I love Hayate the Combat Butler, but I like them for being themselves. If someone remade Moon Phase in the style of Death Note it just wouldn't be Moon Phase any more.
