This is a new short film from Makoto Shinkai - it's only 1 minute, but it's really cool and his most Ghibli-like work yet:

This is another really funny short, it's in the Ani*Kuri series and it's by Shojiro Nishimi, who contributed a lot to Tekkonkinkreet.

Mamoru Oshii:

Satoshi Kon:

Shoji Kawamori, featuring a transforming skyscraper :)

There's loads more Ani*Kuri short movies out there, all of them are great and stylish in their own ways :)

An excellent assortment there - it reminds me of why I'm an animation fan in the first place with such a variety of talent. Cheers for the finds. :)

@Makoto Shinkai: well, I love everything he's done but this is a bit different, which is good. The fact that I have a bad-tempered ginger cat sitting right next to me as I type makes it all the more hilarious.

@Shojiro Nashimi: ah, the struggles of a tortured animator. :p The Tekkonkinkreet style is really evident.

@Mamoru Oshii: arty, cryptic and highbrow. I like.

@Satoshi Kon: his ability to blend the surreal with the startlingly real never ceases to amaze me. I can't wait to see what this clip is a part of, seriously.

@Shoji Kawamori: skyscraper-sized mecha pr0n! It makes me wish for the next ep of Macross Frontier...

I don't think it's part of anything to be honest. It stands very well alone as just a short animation and is actually surprisingly effective to say it's only a minute long.
