Oh, definitely!That's what I like about mecha anime as a sub-genre. There's actually a fair bit of diversity in the way they're employed. I like Gundam because - well, I like my big robots front and centre! But I also enjoy something like RahXephon, where the approach to the mecha is nicely alternative and takes a back seat from the story and characters.Geass may just float my boat after all - I'm not keen on the 'Death Note' comparison, though - I'm not a fan of anything too supernatural.
