Getting neither, still don't have any money either. When is the Ouran DVD out?

Part 1 of ouran is out on the 20th April. As for those two releases i already have getbackers -love the series- and bleach i will prob get around to getting at some point

Guh, the only release I'm waiting for is volume 6 of Mushishi. Feels like it's never going to be released.

To be honest, there doesn't seem to be much happening in the R2 scene which interests me at the moment. Do domestic licensors tend to announce more shows as the year progresses, or have the 2009 releases been firmly established by now?

More tends to be announced as the year advances.
I'd say next month releases are pretty much established by now, but It's not uncommon to have something cancelled at the last minute.

New licenses tend to be announced at London Expos, conventions, etc.

I know this is not to do with UK releases, but is anyone else a little worried as to how short the future release list is getting over at ANN.

Worried? No. As a collector you should be happy about the prospect of anime stopping getting released on DVD - the valuation of your collection would sky rocket if everything went OOP. Look at how Geneon releases went up in price for a period - I saw used copies of all 6 R1 copies of Shana sell for £60+ on eBay a few times.

In my own small way, I'm supporting anime in the UK by buying Manga's releases 2-DVD releases when they drop to below £10. I have volume 1 of Death Note, volumes 2-3 are on the way and I have volume 1 of both Claymore and DtB pre-ordered. Only Manga's releases interest me at all right now - everything else is over-priced or ****.

With less new stuff coming out I can focus on older series.
On the subject of the industry's response to the recession, the new trend amongst R1 companies to release series sub-only for several financial reasons is something I can accept. Costs are kept down, and for certain series demand has nonetheless still been high- the first boxset of Clannad sold out in several places online.

What i find annoying is old stuff which got released but not being reissued or completed... Pumpkin scissors for examples.

Yes. I'm actually looking likely to completely finish buying from my wishlist this year, for the first time ever since starting this hobby all those years ago. Then I'll barely be buying anything going forward aside from the occasional half season collection if the current licensing trends persist. I'm a greedy fan but I'm buying faster than they're releasing now by quite a way and the gap is widening.

Funimation's release lists are extremely impressive (though a lot are rereleases) but in R1 the only other real contender is my arch-nemesis, the enemy of quality control Bandai; everyone else has just slowed to a trickle or always been tiny. The loss of those smaller companies - and bigger ones as I don't remember the last time I bought an ADV title, sadly - is felt.

Only the first 2 dvd of Pumpkin scissors where passed by the BBFC, the extra cost of getting the rest of titles rated is probably putting them off.

It surprise me they not planning to re-release title like nadesico or Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 into boxset form. I guess the licenses must have just run out.

Actually they already released Nadesico into a boxset a while back, as my HMV had it for quite a while (Although at £50 it was a bit pricey for me at the time)

50 quid? Admittedly that's what I've come to expect from HMV. It's almost as if they don't want to sell their dust-gathering boxsets.
On the Nadesico front, R1 seems to be the cheapest approach at the moment.

I mean lace who are re-release adv titles at the moment to re-release some of old adv licenses like Nadesico, etc.

Just had a look and you can still pick Nadesico volumes from some retailers, it could be still in license. It would make good choice for re-release.

All the stuff I want to buy has been out for a while anyway (Witchblade, Le Chevalier D'Eon, Hajime no Ippo) so I'm not too bothered. Also the anime I buy tend to be from bigger companies like Funi and Bandai. I do have some ADV releases, but seeing as Funi have acquired FMP, I can relax a little, and their best releases are already finished here or in the States.

Indeed. I got my Nadesico boxset for £25.
