New Anime Releases 04/05/2014

Already have the US release of K.

Not interested in Dragon Ball or Hakuoki.

Isn't K the series that Kaze has decided to put all the episodes on a single blu-ray?

Yes.

It's only on the bluray that has all episodes but on the DVDs there's 3
That''s part of the problem AF. They felt the need to use 3 DVDs yet they shoved everything on a single BD50 with no extras, whereas the US release is on 2 BD 50s and comes with a whole bunch of extras.

Kaze. *shakes wrist in the air*
Dragon Ball. *shakes wrist in the air*
Hakuoki. *not really interested in said franchise at the time of writing*

Didn't they do the same with Un-Go?
Yes, they have done that to UN-Go as well.

And it has been torturing my mind ever since the release what I should do. I don't want to download it, yet I don't have a region A player.
And I am aware of the workaround, but yeah... I'd rather put money in a release that fully works on my BD-player than one I can't access the main menu of.
I'll probably end up using the "forbidden" alternative, but it's not because I want to...

You'd prefer to pirate something just because the menu doesn't show up? :S

Obviously I can't tell you what to do one way or the other, but it sounds pretty weird.

Hmm, I already have US versions of every release in the list this week.

UN-GO does work with the method used on Sentai titles if that helps.

Think of it this way. Sentai only ever use static images for their menus so it's not like you're missing anything.
The only time I ever go out of my way to view the main menu is with Viz and Aniplex releases, mainly because they usually make such an effort with theirs. If anyone has seen the menu's for Accel World, Fate/Zero or Blue Exorcist (especially the movie) for example they'll probably know what I mean.

I'm hoping to get the Dragonball DVD's eventually, for nostalgia's sake. The rest of the releases this week doesn't really interest me.

I agree, your basically missing a few pieces of static artwork with a Sentai release which I'm sure you could locate online easily enough if you were that bothered.

As a side note I wonder if we need to locate a multi region BD player that people could buy, I ended up buying one 2-3 years back as it was brought to my attention in a thread on a forum. it offers so much freedom when picking the best version of a release.
