NEO Issue #7 was released on the 26th of May (last Thursday). This month's issue puts the spotlight on the Gungrave video game and Yotshitoshi ABe's latest science fiction series Texhnolyze.

NEO is the UK's only Asian pop culture magazine with such a heavy emphasis on anime and manga. You should be able to find it in major UK chain-stores, including the likes of WH Smiths, Borders and Forbidden Planet.

So who has picked up the latest issue?

I thought the feature on Texhnolyze in the latest issue was a fine read, as was the look at Wonderful Days (aka Sky Blue)- and although the reviews themselves are still somewhat hit or miss (the Texhnolyze review is another example of the reviewer missing the point of the show), I think the magazine is doing just fine for the casual anime fan.

And apparently, as of issue nine there will be big changes made to the magazine. Should be interesting to see what happens.

I already posted my thoughts on Miaka-chan's thread; issue 7 doesn't really have many articles that interest me, and I'm still not impressed by the tone of the writing (a lot of the review intros are pure waffle, and the language style is a bit too flippant). The Salaryman Kintaro article could easily have been contained in half the number of pages, and once again I spotted a few grammatical errors. Anyway, my subscription runs for four more issues, so there's still time to see what the magazine has in store.

100% avoiding this issue this time round , have no interest in the anime they are running articles on this month sadly. Red XIII pretty much sums up what I too have thought of previous articles and reviews really , theres been a few parts of the magazine that I have enjoyed reading . However they have been outweighed by the parts I dislike.

I bought it the other day although i havn't read through much of it yet. There seems to be a few things that will get a further read, but certainly not article on tokusatsu television.
One thing that made me laugh was the news piece on the US library association recognising manga, but only shounen-ai and yaoi titles, and that for people who are 'Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered and Questioning' for reading.
I also noticed that they are giving away something which finally actually appeals to me when you subscribe.
I look forward to seeing what they are going to do from issue nine
