Negima series

I started watching Negima?! a long time ago but due to certain things i stopped. I was wondering if Mahou Sensei Negima! series was just as good? Its the older series incase anyone wasnt sure what i was talking about >.<

I think I should answer this since I know a bit about Negima. I a fan of the Negima manga. However the anime series I was disappointed. Firstly the animations are below par, second fanservice is toned downed, thirdly because there was only 26 episodes they tried to chop down the story from the manga for example they tried to fit Negima Volume 6 with just 1 episode, fourth characters missing, lastly the last few episodes left me in confusion because it was not in the manga so to me it looked like I was watching a filler.

...However unlike me, if you have not seen the manga you will like it a lot better than I did, but if you have read the manga first and ready to watch anime I would not get your hopes too up. Most of volume 1,2,3 are in this but 4,5,6 are a bit "hacked". Still decent music but sometimes the music does sould a bit like the rugrats.

overall Mahou Sensei Negima! is based on the manga series but it is not good enough mainly because it is only 26 episodes but is still decent.

I agree, I love the manga but the anime series was very dissappointing. Though I still got up to volume 3 just so I could see some of Nodoka's better scenes. Though they're nowhere as good as they get later in the manga.

Funny, I'm watching the anine currently and I'm rather enjoying it. I haven't read the manga (probably because it's for mature audience :) ) but I would like to, from what you're saying the manga is a better experience than the anime.

Yeah the manga is awesome! :p There’s more story, more characterisation *half the cast hardly get 2 lines in the entire series in the first anime*, more action and more fan service *if you think that’s a good thing  *
Negima is my favourite manga series to date *and that’s not an easy place to get to with me :D * so yeah I recommend you check it out. Its not hard to find and not even that expensive >_>

Its a remake of the series not based on the manga. Its less fanserivce more action/situation - absurd comedy and has a quite a few parodies of other pop culture things in it. Its better than the first anime but still nowhere near as good as the manga.

I finished watching Negima! I rather enjoyed it, though it was a bit confusing when Asuna died and then it seemed to move on quickly to a Yue story. Other than that it was good! A very good series I think, now to get the manga!

Agreed on most points. Infact Negima! is the first Manga series I have read. However the fanservice is complete overkill, (some is fine, this is far too much) and occasionally comes close to causing the whole thing to crash down - Fortunately I think the author saw that himself and reigned things in enough to stop that happening.

As for the Anime, only saw the first episode in newtype. Quite liked it, though Negi's Voice actor set my teeth on edge.

While there is Negima thread around, I'd just thought I'll ask about the pronunciation, I've never been TOO sure.

Is it "Neg - E - Ma" or "Nedge - E - Ma"

Knowing me they both look totally wrong wrote down, But anyway. . .

I pronounce it Neg-e-ma. Sure they pronounce Negi's name, Ne-g-e.

I only watched one episode of Negima!? and I didn't particularly like it. That's just my opinion though, you can watch it if you want.

almost how i do it, i prefer ne-ge-ma

I say Nedge-ee-ma . I suppose it doesn't really matter.

I watched the anime and halfway through i then started reading the manga (vol.6 now), and now i'm slowly watch Negima!? and although the anime didn't follow the manga's story, i found it a good experience in itself. Maybe if i'd read the manga first it would have been different, but i though the anime rounded off the story quite well. Although i thought it could've done with a second series to learn more about the other classmates. I think people judge it too much compared to the manga, but manga counterparts are often more detailed and such so i think its best to veiw it as a stand alone story without refering to the manga.

I'm starting to watch Negima!? at first I didn't like it that much but now I'm on the 4th episode and my conclusion is that it's alright. It's not as good as the the first but I wouldn't say it was awful.

Haha. I pronounce it the same. The only thing was that someone at the expo pronounced it "Neg-E-Ma".
