Forgive me if there's an obvious thread called 'Naruto - ALL NARUTO DISCUSSION HERE!!!' somewhere, I'm lazy. :p

The subs on the first Naruto DVD were not good. Not only did they do annoying things like change ramen to pot noodle and change move names every other episode, they made a MAJOR mistake on one of the last DVD's, making it look like Kakashi was talking about Naruto's dad and confusing everyone who hasn't seen the far superior fansub subtitles.

I'm now hearing/reading about Manga going one better and not translating the JP version at all, forcing us to read dubtitles. I'm wondering if it would be best to import the US box sets from 2:1 onwards?

Thats kinda stupid Manga Knows that they could potentially wipe out certain sections of there fan base if they refused to have the English dub, plus all those younger audiences that watch it on fox kids for naruto who really doesn't know what anime is will be left out of there potential consumers.

So Only producing the Japanese maybe good for some audiences but on a Customer level its just plain Stupid so i really don't see manga stopping using The English & just using the Japanese Dub on each volume they Release.

Uh, what? No-one said that Manga were going to stop english dubbing. Aion just pointed out the fact that Manga aren't putting english subtitles on their releases - they're only doing dubtitles. Which tend to piss me off, as even with my level of Japanese it's blatantly obvious when they're saying something totally different.

It's still hitting a section of the fanbase, just a different one to the one you mentioned. Huh, just when people were forgiving Manga for releasing all that hentai...

They might as well not bother licencing the Japanese track at all if they're just going to give the release dubtitles and just release it English dubbed. It's deceptive of them to trick you into buying it with the original language but not being able to watch it properly because the dialogue isn't synced up.

I was pissed off about Millennium Actress. One of my favourite movies ruined by a release that had dubtitles and a poor English dub. I sent it back and imported the US version which isn't perfect but at least it has a good subtitle track.

The problem is that if the release does have really unsynced dubtitles and you're forced to watch it in English then Manga NEVER include sign only translation. So when some japanese writing comes on the screen that may or may not be important to the story you have to mess around with the remote and switch to the subtitle track to see what the hell it said.

Man, sometimes I wish they wouldn't licence good shows if they aren't going to do it right...

Does 'She: The Ultimate Weapon - Another Love Song' have dubtitles?
