Recently being watching Avatar the last Airbender on Nickelodeon and have found myself hooked and although there are around 30 eps for me still to watch, I'm already looking for something to fill the gap after its finished.

This had led me to Naruto and just wondered if anyone could tell me if the shows have anything in common. Avatar is certainly aimed at kids but is still quite fun to watch and has a sense of adventure to it. Plus Naruto was on kids tv.

Gotta say Avatar is not usually my kinda show but I am certainly enjoing it, thus why I thought Naruto might be worth another try (I originally watched the 1st ep via a disc Manga released but that was a while ago and I can't remember it). Plus Unleashed Series 1 is £12.19 :D

Also is there a somewhere you can watch a legal stream (can't seem to find any). Would be nice to see a few eps before buying.
 
You can legaly stream series (NOT season) 2 (Naruto Shippuden) on Crunchyroll.
i.e. after the first 220 eps.

Series 1 can't be streamed here legaly. But season 2 will let you see how it ends up.
 
Required viewing:
Naruto Unleashed S1-6 (Or to be more precise, just eps 1-135)
Naruto Shippuden S1-current (I read manga vols 28-, I heard Shippuden is filler hell)

You'll probably love Unleashed, but I got bored during Shippuden.

Also, liking American action cartoons isn't unusual, even if they are on kid's TV. I still wanna check out A:TLA, along with Megas XLR, Sym-Bionic Titan, Teen Titans, Batman: The Animated Series and that new Avengers looks good.
 
Like Paradox295 said Season 1-6 of Naruto series.
Then for Shippuden Season 1-2 (Eps.1-53)
Season 4 (Eps.72-88 ) could watch Season 5 Ep.89
Season 6 (Eps.113-143)
Season 8 (Eps.152-169/172-175)
Season 9 all filler but the first 4/5 eps at the start or end they do inc. 3/4min of cannon story.
Season 10 (Eps.197-Presnet)

Hope this helps, I watched all of the Shippuden on Crunchyroll, but I do buy them on dvd. I recommend you watching it as I think it's one amazing series but of course it's not for everyone.
 
Considering everyone is talking about the specifics, so I'll do some comparing: the world the characters live in are definitely similar and if you are enjoying Avatar, then you will certainly find something to appreciate in the first half of the Naruto series (1 - 135). They both are set in thriving Edo-esque backdrop, with characters that can flip from serious to child-like in a second. The stories are skewed for the focus on the kids and their individual development of their fighting skills/magic/etc. The cast is wide and varied but important characters are basically the same due to the nature of the story.

So, yeah. They compliment each other well.

Batman the Animated Series is one of my favourites, brilliant show.

Best choice ever!, It would be cool to tell us of what you think of it, because it just get's better and better, and Shippuden will beat everything you watched so far from Part 1 of the story lol

EDIT: Just to warn if you didnt know, Season 2 box set has dubtitles rather than subtitles so that sucks, if you like to watch it in japanese.

I bought the hole Seasons 1-9 on Region 1 just because of this.
