Two anime/pseudo-anime series that I have fond memories of from my childhood. Are they available on DVD?

I read something about the fact that the UK dub version of Cities of Gold does not exist on DVD.

BoTP was heavily edited for the western audience. Does the original Japanese series exist at all?
 
there are terrible quality subs of it out there but as with blue noah, your only real hope is to learn spanaish as they seem to be the only real ones around

ADV have released a redubbed (including a Japanese dub/subtitled version) version of the Japanese edit of Battle of the Planets in the US. Lookup Gattchaman (the Japanese title of the anime) to find it. It will categorically not be released in the UK since the Battle of the Planets DVD set, which was released a couple of years back, did not sell at all well.
