Monster Manga

I've seen the anime series and I was going to buy the manga when I saw it but I flicked through the first 2 volumes of the manga at bookstores and it looks almost identical to the anime. Is the manga exactly the same as the anime throughout?
 
Well I know the anime is good, i've seen the whole series. I was just wondering if anybody knew if the manga was any different.
 
I bought the first volume and so far it follows the anime. I heard a rumour though that there's extra few scenes not seen in the anime and report/novel called Another Monster after the last volume of Monster.
