Mobile Suit Gundam

I would like some advice on what Gundam series to get and which ones to avoid. ive seen a bit of gundam wing when it used to be on citv and wanted to know what other series to check out.
 
Starting off with Gundam Seed would be a good bet. If you didn't mind importing then i would recommend Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War In the Pocket as its one of the best OVAs released for gundam and the Region 1 release is very nice 8) . Out of the other english releases so far i would check out the sequel OVA for Gundam Wing, Endless Waltz as that's okay.
 
The two series to start with are Wing and Seed. The Mobile Suit Gundam movie trilogy, and the R1 only Zeta Gundam are also highly recommended, although their age can be off putting to some fans (both are over 20 years old). The only series released in english that I would avoid are the Gundam F91 movie and the Gundam 0083: Afterglow of Zeon movie.
 
I normally get my R2 dvds from play.com, but there is cheaper options out there. I would try and avoid ebay unless you're sure that they are the real deal.
