Marvel x Madhouse

You remember hearing about Marvel making some anime Wolverine and Iron Man from earlier this year. Apparently, trailers have been released and they look quite the awesome. Wolvs looks like a generic samurai, just with blades in him, instead of, you know, on him. Might be good. Iron, on the other hand, looks far better. It just looks, kinda, more true to the source, I guess.

According to Warren Ellis, on AintItCoolNews - "WOLVERINE and IRON MAN are 13 episodes each."

There are two other characters MadHouse are planning on doing too. I'm betting Spidey.

There was a report on this the other day from SDCC, one of the other licenses was Blade, unsure of the fourth at the moment. These don't look too bad though, an intresting take.

Of course i would love to see a Ghost Rider anime

I believe they're doing X-Men too. Love the Iron Man but the Wolverine I will pass on. Not only does it look weird and not much like Wolverine, the actual fighting seemed boring somehow. Maybe they were just bad scenes and the actual show will be better :(

I will love MadHouse more than I already do if they give Deadpool an anime series.

Rui, I believe the fights look boring due to "Michael Bay Syndrome". Too many camera angle changes combined with overuse of slow motion.

I'd be interested in seeing a Japanese take on the Hulk.

The Wolverine one looks pretty awful from that trailer. Couldn't they have least made him look a little more Wolverine like and not some rather generic looking anime stock character but with claws?

Completely forgot about this after first hearing about it.

Think I'm with the general consensus here: Madhouse's take on Iron Man looks potentially awesome, whereas it looks like they've missed the essence of Wolverine completely. They've reinvented him so far he's only recognisable by the claws, a shame given how well the character could work in anime.

Whilst watching the Wolverine trailer, I thought that blue canid creature was the eponymous character's good friend, Beast. Alas I don't remember such a character being able produce gaseous emissions sufficient to manifest a sizeable chap with a scythe.

Ironman = 4 "thumbs up" (Including my large toes).
Wolverine = ... Eh?! I know old-man Logan spends some time in Japan, but this seems like kid Logan in this anime has a whole new story/background to him.Unless they come up with a good excuse/story for the change, I'm not too sure I'll be happy with it. Especially with the already-said over-the-top slow motion syndrome etc.

The thing with these, especially the Wolverine one, apart from the bad direction and character designs is that I'm wonder whether these are aimed at a Japanese or American audience? If they are by Madhouse for the US, they are going to be PG-13, with little to no blood. If its Japanese, it'll probably be the opposite. The bats, rather than blood, make it think its the former, though.

...After just checking, the four main series, X-Men, Wolverine, Blade and Iron Man are for Japanese audience. Whilst, that Planet Hulk adaptation seems to be for US audiences, more like Gotham Knight.

Surprised they didn't do Spider-Man, though. He has a history in Japan.

ahh thanks Sy you just reminded me of the other license :p Planet Hulk, with its storyline ripped straight out of the comic books

I don't think that's it. The Planet Hulk thing is made by Lionsgate.

The animation is done by Madhouse, turns out they also did the legwork for the Hulk Vs movies

It isn't.

Filling inbetweens isn't really doing the animation.

Madhouse was utilised in the making of Hulk vs Wolverine. (which was ****ing sweet)
