It certainly appealed to me despite its shortcomings The manga is shoujo and despite the sci-fi elements adheres very much to conventions such as entire pages spent on drawings of long, shimmering hair, slightly scrappy art focusing on emotions rather than fights and strange social interactions being the focus instead of milking the lush setting for its action potential. The infrequent fights are pretty weak - much simpler than even in the anime.Aha, I still had my huge pack of HMV vouchers at that time so clearly didn't even look at the price tags before buying. xxxHolic is another funny one to categorise. It's definitely a big hit with girls in the west. I'm interested mostly in the gender split purely because something being shoujo has traditionally been a kiss of death in terms of US/UK success (with the exception of anything related to Fruits Basket). Any sign things are improving in those quarters interests me.I'd love to see solid sales figures from Manga. They've alluded to some in the past so hearing how this last year's batch has done for them would be interesting. Funimation seem masters of keeping all important details close to their chest so I won't expect any juicy information from those quarters.R
