This, I guess, is where our opinions diverge. As far as I'm concerned, Maison Ikkoku has an emotional depth and sincerity that is totally absent from Love Hina. Really, though, I don't think they even warrant comparison. Aside from the superficial setup which Akamatsu may or may not have pilfered from Takahashi, the two series are nothing alike.
