MANGA UK: Bleach Movie 2 Sells 1,000 Copies on Release Day

The second Bleach movie DVD has sold over 1,000 copies on release day for MANGA UK. It also went on to enter UK DVD Top 200 chart as well.

Wonder if that includes per-orders as mine turned up on the Saturday before the release day?

Wonder when Manga will release season 6 hope its just after xmas :D

Enjoyed this movie looking forward to 3rd Bleach movie and 2nd, 3rd and 4th Naruto Shippuden movies aswell. (might see them before 2014 if we are lucky)

Some UK anime DVDs don't sell a thousand copies in their lifetime. That's why Manga are so chuffed.

Even in the US distributors can have trouble shifting discs; apparently some volumes of Rumiko Takahashi Anthology didn't even reach three figures.

I remember getting some of Revelation's PR blurb with their review discs, including some marketing figures, targets that they hoped to achieve.

It made for depressing reading. And this was promo material meant to big up the brand, not final sales figures, these were first month projections. Other than the FMA movie which had a projected sales in the mid thousands, nothing else approached four figures, except volumes of Tsubasa and Hell Girl.

Shows like Mushishi, Beck, Suzuka, School Rumble and Peach Girl were projected at 500-750 units in the first month. Some were even as low as 250.

These were projected sales figures. They probably didn't meet these targets. Certainly there's no Revelation selling anime today!

A fair few don't even shift that number in Japan.

Jings, is that good anime or bad animu that tends to fail to shift that many copies
Can often be very high quality stuff that just doesn't appeal to the typical DVD-buying otaku. I mean, it's exceptionally bad for an anime to sell that low in Japan, which is a different perspective from "it's good if it sells that much" in the UK, but it still happens.

I wonder how well the anime legends line has been selling, I assume well enough if beez plan to continue next year?

I remember just after amecon they had the overall points from the state of industry and Beez panels on here and I'm sure it said that since it launched it's sales on Anime Legend titles has increased by 200%

To me the revelation anime wasn't bad but it was just a bad price. We were passing the age of paying £20 for a dvd, one reason I didn't buy X by MVM because the price just wasn't right.

Revelation actually led the way in setting the price for anime. When MVM lost the Funimation titles, they were selling single volumes for £19.99. I recall when Revelation announced the continuation of Full Metal Alchemist, the biggest Revelation of all was their £15.99 price point, a price that applied across the board for their single volume series DVDs.

More people are willing to buy anime at a less insane cost? Huh, who knew?

I prefer to buy part seasons or complete box sets as you can get royally screwed when you buy single dvds, in fact I have been noticing that a lot of companies have started to copy Manga's plan of releasing thnigs in part sets, Funimation even release both the sameday now (well I think its Mangas plan :p ).

Wish Media Blaster's did that as still waiting for Ikki Tousen Dragon Destiny Vol 3 that keeps getting pushed back

The prices are even getting competive in this country to the point that it is sometimes cheaper to buy it in the UK if you don't mind the extra few months/years.

Thats my point plus if you take off the £8 fee the robbing mail charge you to get it if you were to get it from the USA it almost pays for itself.

RIN Daughters of Mnemosyne is around £13 in good old blighty and about £25 to import it(excluding fees), the most important question is what have the BBFC cut from it??

Good stuff, I was very suprised when I read this yesterday.

Further to the messages above, I noticed that Soul Eater is only £15 per set here, to import it would be at least £25 after shipping from most places. Highly amazed by this!

However the high prices and related sales in merch and CDs helps out there, something we don't have (which is a good thing in terms of the prices, but it would be nice to see more licensed merch available and definitely nice to see someone step into Geneon's shoes licensing soundtracks).

Yeah, related goods that you could shift people towards would be ace. I just wonder if the relative sales figures would get increasingly worse the deeper you dig into the bag of... stuff.
