Manga Sound FX

I don't read a lot of manga but I've stated to get at least get the first volumes of series that I liked, I bought Hellsing vol 1 and it was done by DMP a few years ago so I could understand if the publisher didn't have enough money to pay touch-up artists to re-do the lettering for sound effects, But then I bought the Soul eater vol 1 from Yen Press and it was really good but it still had the same problem and you had to see the Japanese Character then the Japanese onomatopoeic and then the English onomatopoeic which was confusing as I picture all the characters talking and the sound effects happening in my head

Is it only Viz that changes the sound effects, and do people like reading it this way because it's closer to the Japanese and probably quicker coming out
or are you like me and want to know what the squiggles mean

A lot of people like to see the Japanese sound effects left in because they are part of the artwork as well as anything else.

I don't quite follow your post though. "you had to see the Japanese Character then the Japanese onomatopoeic and then the English onomatopoeic" and "or are you like me and want to know what the squiggles mean" don't seem to be part of the same complaint.

like ilmaestro said, they're part of the artwork, and to be honest, don't you ever read the little english that goes alongside the FX? Something tells me that helps
